Once upon a time...
Nym was born and raised in the waters of Othard. Along with her tribe she spent her formative years participating in her family and tribal culture. Her grandmother taught her the ways of conjuration magic and a bit of astronomy to guide herself by the stars if she ever got lost. Nym also grew up learning all the ways of the rivers and waterways of Othard. She gained valuable skills in tool making, fishing, swimming, diving, and survival skills.She lived in Othard for a few years into her adult life but something always felt like it was missing. While she always gravitated towards people, she knew visitors were few and far between. With her grandmother's blessing and guidance she left home and struck out her own path to find shores and waters in far away lands.This adventure landed her on a boat to Limsa Lominsa and it was with her first tentative steps into Eorzea she realized she found what she had always been missing. She drank in the sights, sounds, smells, and activities that the port city had to offer before continuing on and finding new lands to explore. Her favorite place is still the Shroud. She adores the atmosphere and waters of the forests and has found a home there amongst the others in the Lavender Beds.

She grew up in Othard and traveled the waterways making trades with locals and foreigners alike. Any Xaela that might've come into contact with the Ejinn or any foreigners that might've traded along the rivers could've met Nym or at least saw her.
She traveled to Kugane for a year or so before leaving to Eorzea and she helped work at the hot springs there.
She has been traveling all over Eorzea and has been doing work as a diver, fisher, and swimming lessons.
